Dump trailers are designed to take a beating. That’s their job. However, you should still take the time to inspect your trailer for any signs of damage. Because of the loads we carry with dump trailers it’s normal for the floors to get worn out so it’s good to apply a fresh coat of enamel paint from time to time. We also suggest using a high quality grease to lubricate the door hinges, which are prone to dust and debris from dumping loads of dirt.
Be sure to routinely check on the wheels and bearings of your dump trailer. While you’re down there take a look at the axle and make sure your wheels are properly balanced.
Don’t forget about tire pressure. Because of the weight your dump trailer is carrying it’s a good habit to check tire pressure before you get on the road. Remember to check the tire pressure on your towing vehicle too. Never drive with a worn out tire and be sure to change tires when you notice they are getting worn down. A blown tire can do a lot of damage so you are better safe than sorry.
